Hair fall is a very common problem faced by the majority of people worldwide. Losing 50 to 100 strands of hair in a day is normal. The problem begins when the shedding of hair is not replaced by new hair growth. This leads to balding and loss of hair density.
Hair transplantation is one of the most promising hair restoration surgery in which the healthy hair follicles are taken out from the back or side of the head and are grafted to the front or top area of the head. It is a safe, effective, and reliable procedure.
Dr. Akangsha Sharma is a well-known plastic & cosmetic surgeon who performs the best hair transplant in Jaipur. She holds an extensive experience of more than a decade and helps her patients in achieving the desired results. Hair transplant is usually performed on males who suffer from androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness and in females suffering from female pattern baldness. Individuals who have lost hair due to scalp injury can also avail this treatment at A K Aesthetics, the best hair transplant clinic in Jaipur.
Poor diet, stress, illness, hormonal imbalance, and certain medications can cause hair loss. Genetics also plays a major role in balding. Be it any reason, hair transplant can effectively restore the hair growth.
Different types of hair transplant procedures performed by Dr. Akangsha Sharma include:
FUE (follicular unit extraction): In this procedure, hair follicles are obtained directly from the back portion of the head by making tiny punch incisions. In this, the surgeon makes tiny holes with the needle in the scalp that further receives a hair transplant graft. The surgeon gently places hair in these holes. After this, a bandage is applied to cover the scalp for a few days. The main advantage of this procedure is faster recovery, sutureless technique, less pain with long term results. This is a scar less procedure as small punctures are made.
FUT (follicular unit transplant): In this procedure, the surgeon uses a scalpel to cut a strip of skin containing hair follicles from the back portion of the head. After the removal, the scalp area is closed in layers using a trichophytic closure technique. This further makes it very difficult to identify the suture line. Then the removed strip is prepared to separate the grafts, i.e. hair follicles in batches of one to three. These are then implanted to the balding area.
Direct hair transplant technique: This technique is the same as FUE, but in this technique, the only difference is that the follicles are immediately implanted after being harvested. This means that there is no storage time and minimal exposure to environmental factors that result in better grafts.
Combination of FUE and FUT: These procedures are usually combined for a larger area that needs to be covered and if the donor area is good. The number of hair follicles grafted is more in one session when both procedures are combined.
Hair Transplant is an effective, safe, and advanced procedure with minimal downtime and less risk of side effects. On can resume normal day to day activity after the surgery. Mild swelling can be experienced after the surgery, which will subside in a day or two. The patient must stop wearing a helmet or any cap on the head. The total time required to complete the procedure depends on the coverage i.e., no of grafts harvested.
The transplanted hair usually falls off in 2–4 weeks but their root remains intact. Natural hair growth can be observed in about 3 to 4 months, and one can get full hair growth after 8 to 9 months.
